State Water Contractors' Response to Public Policy Institute of California Report on California Water
Thursday, 24 February 2011
“The evidence is clear, California’s environment and water supply cannot be sustained under current conditions.
As the Public Policy Institute of California echoed today, we must develop new conveyance to deliver water to Californians. It’s the only way we will be able to protect the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta ecosystem and supply water to 25 million Californians, three million acres of farmland and businesses throughout the state.
“We commend the researchers for their dedication and careful analysis of the many factors at play in California’s complicated water issues. The report makes recommendations on a broad range of issues, from the Delta ecosystem itself to altering the management and structure of the State Water Project. The results of today’s report will certainly play a role in our ongoing efforts to better manage and maintain one of the most critical ecosystems in California and our statewide water infrastructure.”
